We’ve made it to Day 22 of our journey without being eaten by a bear, falling off a cliff, drowning in a lake, freezing to death, or succumbing to altitude sickness! Yay?
We are alive! Some of you may be wondering if we succumbed to the altitude here in Rocky Mountain National Park. At a base elevation of 8,000+ feet, that wouldn’t too unrealistic.
Just a short update tonight because it’s late and we’re pretty tired after a full day of driving (almost 600 miles!). We’re just outside of Boulder, CO, in a $58/night room booked through Hotwire. While here, we plan to see Rocky Mountain National Park…
Three days in Yellowstone and not one bear! This is a little shocking since Yellowstone is known for its constant “bear jams” and relatively high population of grizzlies and black bears.
Welcome to Day 18. It started innocently enough…us looking for a good cup of coffee to help us wake up on our way to Yellowstone.

We finally had a warm (relatively), sunny day at Grand Teton National Park today. So we headed out for some hiking!
Here we are at Day 17 (holy cow). We had a relaxed day and did some light hikes to some pretty lakes in the area. The weather was spectacular.
Today was an adventure of the geothermal variety in the caldera of the continent’s largest volcano. We saw geysers erupt, mud pots bubble, and boiling hot streams roll over rocks crusted with colorful bacteria.
Terrible weather today. It was cold, and the sky couldn’t decide if it wanted to drop hail or snow on us, so it alternated between the two. We spent the day at Grand Teton National Park nonetheless, but the clouds…
