We drove across North Dakota today. The state has an odd fascination with displaying ridiculously over-sized stuff—I always thought that was Texas’s thing.
Today we drove about 600 miles west through Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, and ended up just over the North Dakota border in Grand Forks. It sure is flat out here.
It’s 12:52 AM and I’m just getting to posting now. It’s been a long, albeit amazing day. We visited Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
We just returned from a full day at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, which I’d never heard of until last week. We had a great time, and ran out of daylight wishing we could have spent a couple more hours there.
That’s Michigan’s state slogan… “Pure Michigan”. I have no idea what it means. But I feel like the party responsible for dreaming up Michigan’s tagline wasn’t trying especially hard.
We are making our way to the U.P.! For those of you who are not Michigan-ites, that is the nickname of the northern most part of Michigan.
Tonight we’re staying with Lori’s aunt and uncle in a Chicago suburb. That’s a huge improvement over last night’s accommodations in Akron, where a bunch of teenagers literally partied on the other side of our hotel room door from midnight…
Today we explored Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio. Affectionately nicknamed “America’s Most Accessible National Park” Cuyahoga definitely is…different…than any of the other National Parks we’ve been to.
Today we visited Cuyahoga Valley National Park—sometimes referred to as “America’s most accessible national park” due to its extremely close proximity to urban areas. And we learned that “America’s muddled mess of a national park” might be a fitting title, too.
