We Do America!

Pure Michigan

That’s Michigan’s state slogan… “Pure Michigan”. I have no idea what it means. But I feel like the party responsible for dreaming up Michigan’s tagline wasn’t trying especially hard.

After a very pleasant breakfast with Lori’s aunt & uncle (fabulous hosts—thanks again guys!), followed by a full day of driving through Wisconsin, we ended up in Escanaba, MI. I’m proud to report that I managed to remain conscious for the entire drive today! The weather stayed pleasant long enough for us to have a picnic lunch in a deserted Wisconsin park, and then turned rainy (like, ridiculously rainy!) for the remainder of the trip.

We rented a room with a separate kitchen for about $50/night, so we can cook meals while we’re here. Added bonus: it’s been retro-styled to look like it was transplanted straight from the 1970s!

While we’re in the area, we’re planning to check out Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. And then from here, we’ll head west (probably Tuesday).

You’re so far away already! I’m vacationing vicariously through you guys right now 🙂 Roadtrippers says you’re right near someplace called Lakenenland Sculpture Park. Looks cool/funny/weird: https://goo.gl/Dxarqx

We love Roadtrippers too! We missed the sculpture park in MI unfortunately, but feel like we made up for it today in ND with all of the ridiculous over-sized man-made animals we saw.
