Short post tonight because I’m exhausted, but I wanted to at least get some photos up.
Today we hiked the Devil’s Garden primitive trail loop at Arches National Park. The trail is roughly 7-8 miles, offers excellent views of eight different arches, and incorporates some rock scrambling, climbing, and walking along tops of high sandstone fins (some are quite narrow!). So it’s a fun hike (there’s a good write-up of the trail experience here if you’re interested in more info)!
We finished the Devil’s Garden trail late in the afternoon, with enough time to head over to Dead Horse State Park for sunset. It was pretty hazy, so we didn’t bother setting up tripods or anything, but it’s a nice place to sit and watch the sun go down (or up, presumably).
We moved about an hour west—to Green River, UT—because we’ve been having a bit of trouble finding hotel rooms for the first time on our trip. It turns out that there is a Jeep Jamboree in Moab this weekend, and apparently that’s enough of a draw to sell out most of the hotels in the area. So we’re at a sketchy motel in a tiny room that Lori says resembles a prison cell, with a heater that sounds like a diesel truck, and what appears to be pieces of dog food on the floor. At least, I hope it’s dog food.

Haha, I hope it’s dog food too.
“Lori goes on a hike!”
I bet there are some great airbnb places to explore!
We usually check Airbnb first – unfortunately there isn’t much available this weekend. There was a line out the door of people looking for a room at the place we ended up at during check-in, so it seems like we were lucky to get anything at all. Who knew a Jeep Jamboree could draw such a crowd?
Are you taking pics of the places you stay too? Sounds like they would deserve their own album ha.
We’ve been pretty bad at remembering to take pics of our rooms, but we do have a few of some especially hilarious ones. Will try to do a better job! Most of the rooms have been fine though (and some have been really nice)!
You guys look like you are having a blast, but you had better hurry up, you only have 10 days to get back! 🙂
Ha – there’s always Skype! =)
