After roughly 8 hours on the road, we’ve arrived at our first destination: Akron, OH!
We scored a $38/night room via Hotwire at a Quality Inn just northwest of the city. The room is only slightly sketchy—we had the previous guest’s spoiled milk waiting for us in the mini-fridge, so that was a nice bonus.
We’re about a 10-minute drive from Cuyahoga Valley National Park, so the current plan is to spend tomorrow exploring “America’s most accessible national park” and then get back on the road sometime Saturday.

Yay! Good progress! What did you listen to during this leg?
We’re about 1/4 through Stephen King’s 11/22/63. So far it’s pretty good! Although Lori thinks King is way too wordy.
Are you gonna stop and see any of the concrete arrows left over before there was GPS? They are scattered through the US.
Tell us more! What are these concrete arrows you speak of?
Pilots used to use giant concrete arrows on the ground to navigate where to go. Here’s an article about it.

We’re you momentarily confused when halfway through pa you saw the sign for the Jersey Shore exit?
Nope! I’ve heard enough about it!
