We Do America!

Entertainment on the road

I figure we have at least a couple hundred hours of driving ahead of us on our journey. With that in mind, I’ve been dutifully compiling a catalog of music, audio books, and podcasts to keep us entertained as we drive.

We have Spotify for music (Lori has a subscription so we can download playlists whenever we have wifi, and then listen offline in the car), but hopefully some of you might have suggestions on the book and podcast front.

As far as books that I think might appeal to both of us, so far I’ve got Stephen King’s 11/22/63. I know—not exactly an exhaustive list.

I’ve been listening to a lot of podcast episodes while running recently, and really enjoyed Reply All and Serial. I think Radiolab (and This American Life, to a lesser degree) is probably a top pick for a show that we’ll both find entertaining (I’ve listened to several episodes), but maybe there’s a better choice?

I know that Amazon recently added free Audible channels to its list of Prime membership benefits, so I plan to check that out too.

Anyone have suggestions?

Audible is fantastic audiobook enjoyment! Books I think you’ll like: Watership Down (slow at first, but you’ll like it), The Circle by Dave Eggers (good conversation starter for you too!), Animal Farm (you can listen to it in a day). If you have a library card, you can sync it to Hoopla, too.
